Introduction

Scotch pie - a real delicacy and a personal favourite

Been meaning to web publish a TV sitcom thing I wrote a couple of years ago ...for some strange reason it hasn't happened until now. So, here goes!

It's based on 3 central characters, Ally, Jason and Ian who are trying to get to grips with the challenges of unmarried life in their early thirties, accompanied by their long-suffering partners Jenny, Catherine and Suzie, who are wishing for the knot to be tied and their men to be a great success.

Down on their luck in their respective careers, the three amigos embark on a new business venture selling furniture in a wee shop in Glasgow's West-end...on Wood-end drive.

Supported by their local boozer and it's no-nonsense proprietors Shaz and Daz, as well as the greasy cafe run by the even greasier Italian Joe...who has the hots for Suzie, the lads always have a glass half full and a well fed belly to help them through the rigours of the day.

I got the initial idea from one of the many painful trips to Ikea in NJ. I mused over the Swedish labels wondering if they could possibly mean something a bit more interesting ... for example, could "granasorfa" translate to "getitupyeyabass" in Glaswegian.

I hope you enjoy it as much as I did writing it...as usual I wrote it pretty quickly, read it once and then couldn't be bothered to edit, so it's a tad unpolished. I'd appreciate any feedback, good or bad - well, easy on the bad if you don't mind.

BTW I had wanted to call it "Boys in the Wood" but the blog name for that had gone, other ideas included "hammered" and "screwed" but again, no joy. Open to alternative suggestions!

Episode 1: Get to work!
This is where it all starts. The lads, freshly redundant and under pressure to make something of themselves by their girlies "or their oot!", turn their hand towards a new business venture. Something they know nothing about but can't possibly go wrong- furniture.

Episode 2: Grand opening
With great excitement, the boys, supported by their better halves, plan the opening day for the new venture. With free breakfasts, including tottie scones, and discounts galore, the cash should come rolling in...but does it?

Episode 3: Environ-mental
Struggling to make ends meet with the new business and bogged down with societal pressure to become "green", the boys re-invent the shop as "World of Good" in the hope they can make a real difference to the environment.

Episode 4: Recruitment
The boys attempt to attract punters to the shop by employing some hot looking female sales staff. The girls stumble across the adverts and are immediately suspicious. Suzie goes undercover for an interview...surely the lads won't be in trouble again?

Episode 5: Pub
Landlords Shaz and Daz need a break from their boozer. Problem is how could they possibly afford to close up for a week?...unless someone runs it for them. Ally volunteers and steps in, supported by Jas and Ian. Say no more.

Episode 6: Proposal
Things are looking desperate for the boys, the girls are getting restless regarding the lads commitments to them. Joe is pressurising Suzie, the love of his life. Is the inevitable inevitable or can the lads escape marriage Armageddon?
